Southern Calendar now available as an iCal Feed for Outlook with Office 365 and Mobile

The Salvation Army USA Southern Territory Events Calendar is now available to add to Outlook or iOS (iPhone /iPad) as an iCal Feed. This new iCal feed will remain updated when the THQ Program Department makes changes to the event details.
We are excited to bring you this new feature to help you plan your events with the Southern Territorial Calendar as a reference.

Please check out additional information below on how this works and how to easily set it up.

What you need to know

  • The Southern Calendar is now available by connecting your email client to an iCal feed.
  • These instructions were updated in December 2017 to allow for you to subscribe to more than 90 days of events.
  • iCal is a popular file format used to distribute calendar information between different applications over the internet.
  • Once connected, you can view the Southern Calendar as a separate calendar or overlay it on top of your own calendar in Outlook.
  • This calendar ICS integration works with Outlook 2016 with Office 365 and on mobile. It does not work as an iCal feed in IBM Notes.
  • If your division is not yet on Outlook, you may only be able to complete the mobile instructions at this time.

What you need to do

Note: If you have the Southern Calendar, Calendar by IBM Notes already in Outlook, you will need to remove it by right-clicking on the calendar before completing these instructions.

  • On a Windows Computer with Office 365 Outlook 2016 Client:
  • From the Calendar, click the “Open Calendar button.

    • Choose the “From Internet” option.
    • Enter this address in the dialog box: webcal://
    • Click “Yes” in the final dialog box.
    • Advanced options are also available in the final dialog box for the adventurists.
    • Then, visit Outlook Calendar and look for “Southern Calendar” under Other Calendars

      • Within 30 minutes, the Southern Calendar will also be available on your mobile device where your Exchange account (Outlook Email) is already setup.
  • On a Mac Computer with Office 365 Outlook 2016 Client or for Outlook Web App only:
    • Open Outlook Web App at
    • Go to the Calendar Option in the Bottom Navigation
    • Right Click on any calendar group and choose “Open Calendar”

    • On a Mac Outlook Client, you will only get to see 90 days or so at this time. (This is a known limitation)
  • The best we can offer for this use case to a Mac user is to use the native Mac calendar.
    • From the Mac calendar, Choose File, “New Calendar Subscription” and enter the URL: webcal://
    • That will bring all the Southern Events into your Mac Calendar.
    • Of course you can also expose your Office 365 calendar in the Mac Calendar so you can see both the Events Calendar and your personal calendar together.
