Information Technology in the coming year – What’s in store for you!

We in IT are hard at work designing what will be our new Microsoft SharePoint Online infrastructure that will provide ground breaking collaboration never seen before across the territory!

More information to follow in the coming months!

We in IT are hard at work engaging application owners throughout the territory to simplify the user log in process so there are fewer passwords you need to remember.  We have Great Plains, Interchange, and other enterprise applications in mind to simplify the log in process.

We will keep you posted!

Office 365 Services are rolling out throughout the Territory, check out how it can help you be more productive!

Each license includes access to the online versions of OneDrive, Yammer, Sway, Forms, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote for all employees and officers of The Salvation Army US Southern Territory.

We are continuing to add various meetings to Meeting Manager.  Currently on the list is TOAC and Candidate Council.  This will provide a consistent method of managing the workflow and execution of these important Council meetings!

The Corps Management application will combine the existing SA Roll Manager and the Troops databases into one application, retire an existing Lotus Notes database, provide an improved platform with ADFS authentication and enhance the Corps Management of groups and individuals to include Corps Cadets, Prospects and Candidates.

We are working towards a face lift for the Portal site.  In addition, we will be consolidating other portal sites across the territory into one place – portal.sauss.net!

Keep an eye out for these changes in the future!

Never worry about how to access the wireless network at any location in the Southern Territory!  We are moving towards all locations using the same WiFi configuration so that you can join seamlessly to our network from any Salvation Army Southern Territory location!

As part of our Portal.Sauss.Net revamp, we will be including Divisional sections to provide information specific to each division.  You will have one site for both territorial and divisional information!

We are seeking out ways to turn paper forms into digital format and to automate processes associated with those forms! Please Contact Sheri.Clark@uss.salvationarmy.org if you have ideas on paperless forms or are interested in this feature!

This notification is a friendly reminder of the retirement of the “underscore” email addresses, i.e. firstname_lastname@uss.salvationarmy.org. Currently, we have been using both the “dot” and the “underscore” to allow our users ample time to update contacts, newsletters, and other important email lists.
The retirement will be occurring as your division migrates to Outlook with Office 365 for email. To be prepared for this change, please notify your contacts, update your subscriptions and change your account information to firstname.lastname@uss.salvationarmy.org.

If your address is stored in your copier for scanning with the underscore, this will also need to be updated to the dot.

Aliases are no longer in use

Aliases are additional names setup in the Lotus Notes Address Book for 1 person, For instance, Robert Doe may have Bob Doe and Robbie Doe as aliases. Aliases will not work or be found in the USS Address Book in Outlook.

Please use the individuals Full Name. i.e.: Patty Jones will need to be found as Patricia Jones. View More Info Here

Active Directory passwords will now sync to IBM Notes/Domino, simplifying the number of passwords we all have to remember. Active Directory (AD) is what controls access to computer resources. For many of us, we use our AD logins for our computers, TSAMM, Citrix, Office 365, Ceridian, etc. Now, when you change your AD password, your IBM Notes/Domino passwords will change to match shortly afterwards. This sync will only occur when you change your password.
